8 Finalists Honored at 2015 Houston Charms Scholarship Reception
On Wednesday, July 28, the Houston Charms held its 2015 Book Scholarship Award reception at the Clayton Genealogical Library, to honor 8 finalists in its essay contest. Finalists, families, friends and chapter members gathered to honor the high school graduates who excelled in their respective fields of study. All the finalists were recognized and applauded as their biographical sketch was read and a gift package of college supplies and monetary prize was given to each.
Two top finalists received $500.00 each. Titus Edward Bryant, the son of Rev. Timothy and Scherra Bryant, a graduate of Jack Yates High School, will be attending Prairie View A. & M. University to study English and Public Relations. Jonah Patrick Trahan, the son of Patrick and Jacqueline Trahan, a graduate of Strake Jesuit College Preparatory, will be attending Baylor University to study Biomedical Engineering.
Following the award presentations, a reception was enjoyed by all. Chapter members present to greet their guests were Charms Patti Rollins, Houston Chapter President, Helen Cashaw, Lillie Fontenot, Monica Fontenot-Poindexter, Marie Horton, Anne King, Lynn Page and Tonja Horton Robinson.
